For more than 150 years, Waxahachie has been a destination for locals and visitors alike. Today, it’s still the go-to place with over 100 delicious restaurants throughout the city and numerous antique stores, boutiques and specialty shops in the Historic Downtown District.
In addition to the wonderful shopping and dining, downtown Waxahachie is the home of the legendary Ellis County Courthouse, the most photographed courthouse in the state of Texas, plus historic museums, art galleries and easy access to the Waxahachie Creek Hike & Bike Trail.

Crossroads of Texas Country Festival Mark your calendars for the Crossroads of Texas Country Festival. This new and improved arts and music festival will take place in downtown Waxahachie on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Admission is FREE.
Surrounding the courthouse square will be more than 200 booths set up with artists, craftspeople and the best of festival foods from Texas and beyond.Ten-time Grammy award winner Asleep at the Wheel will be headlining the Crossroads of Texas Country Festival. For over fifty years, Asleep at the Wheel’s Ray Benson has been traversing the globe as an ambassador of Western swing music and introducing its irresistible sound to generation after generation. With more than 30 albums, Asleep at the Wheel has collaborated on records with friends, including Willie Nelson, Brad Paisley, Jamey Johnson, Merle Haggard, George Strait, the Avett Brothers, Amos Lee, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lyle Lovett, Emmylou Harris, Lee Ann Womack and many more.
This bigger-than-Texas event will feature music on more than ten stages in restaurants, breweries and wine bars in addition to the main stage with musicians from Texas and the surrounding states, plus the Grown Local stage showcasing local Ellis County talent.
Returning to Waxahachie, also known as The Crossroads of Texas, is the “GO TEXAN Experience” featuring a marketplace of GO TEXAN vendors, wineries, Southern Roots Brewing, Boyce Feed & Grain and FRESH Market Coffee.
Screams® Halloween Theme Park Screams® Halloween Theme Park opens Friday, October 4, 2024, for its 28th season and will run every Friday and Saturday night through November 2, 2024. Screams® Halloween Theme Park is the ultimate Halloween experience in DFW with five Haunted Houses and a whole lot more including walk-through attractions, a Monster Museum, live stage entertainment, Scary-Oke, shops, food, pubs, and games of skill for a whole night of Halloween fun! Ticket prices for Screams® 2024 at the gate (on event nights only) will start at $45 and Fast Passes start at $33 with prices varying for Friday & Saturday nights. Discount tickets will be available on-line at ScreamsPark.com starting in mid-September. Tickets include all five haunted houses, the Cool Ghoul Boolevard walk-through attraction, live entertainment, and Scary-Oke. Some attractions and games of skill are an additional cost. Screams® is designed for ages 16+ and is not recommended for small children.
Stampede of Speed
Stampede of Speed is a ten-day festival of music, drag racing, and amazing fan experiences leading up to the NHRA Texas Fall Nationals. Hosted at the historic Texas Motorplex, the multi-use facility is located just 35 minutes from Dallas and Fort Worth. Each day is packed with fun for the entire family.
